I’ve entered my first 5K

I’ve decided to give myself an extra bit of incentive to keep up with C25K by entering a 5K race at the end of March.

Oh boy, I never thought I would ever do this or even desire to do this!

I’ve selected the 1st race of the Run Auckland series for a few reasons:

1. It is pretty close to where I live.
2. It is on the 30th of March which is about two weeks after I’m scheduled to complete the C25K program.
3. It is the first race of a series. In moments of madness I like to think I may want to do a few more.

This is the route map:

Now I just need to pray it doesn’t rain.

Great, good for you! Actually, I will be doing a 5K that same day, so we will be doing our first races on the same day! Very cool. (Although you will do yours about 18 hours ahead of me, of course – I am on the US East Coast.)

    Great stuff Chiocciola!

Heh…judging by my form in the gym today I’m going to be the slowest runner there. :)

But you will be wet in any case :P

Well, I can always enter, that way you won’t be the slowest runner, I will!

Who cares if you are slow, right?

I don’t really care what speed I go at as long as I finish!

Great job! I still haven’t looked into races around here this spring (which is later than March in Minnesota!) but I do have that as a goal. Can’t wait to hear how you like it. Hopefully it will lead to more.

    Hey Andrew,

Great stuff, impressed with your determination & results. Now thinking of doing this race as well, considering that I run in that park (when i’m not too lazy :) ). So might see you there.
    Good luck in any case!

And in a moment of madness on my end – if you do the Western Springs one on the 22nd of June, I’ll do it with you.
