A run with the runs

Oh boy, click away now if you have a delicate stomach.
I was supposed to go for a 30 minute run today as part of the One Hour Runner program and I was planning on going for a run outside. However, the heavens opened and I’d rather run on the treadmill than run in the rain.
I’ve been feeling a bit dizzy and run down all day and yesterday evening too but I was hoping that my run would clear it up. As I mentioned in a previous post, my daughter has had a stomache bug and hasn’t been sleeping well so neither have my wife and I.
So I went to the gym and started running and it was very tough right from the get go. I was rather surprised as I normally find the first twenty minutes reasonably ok and only start to curse from that point on. About 15 minutes in I started to get really dizzy and I thought “uh oh, what’s going on here then?” I normally sweat quite a bit whilst running but today I was absolutely drenched at that point. I stopped for a minute and went and got some water and thought maybe I was just tired. I got back on and resumed running at a slightly slower pace. About 6 minutes later I felt some rather serious rumblings and hit the emergency stop button and made a beeline for the bathroom. I won’t go into details but suffice to say I think I have caught my daughter’s stomach bug.
I’ll have to redo the run tomorrow now as I only managed 21 minutes and 3.6 km in my aborted run. Oh well, I guess these things happen eh.

Oh nooooooooo! If you have a stomach bug, PLEASE, don’t force yourself to do these runs - hope you get better soon!

There is nothing worse than a stomach bug! I hate that feeling! Good thing you were not on the road!

Oh dear, I hope you get better soon! (Normally goes from Emma, to Andrew and eventually… me :-/ hopefully not this time!!)
Probably better to wait and see how you feel tomorrow before you decide if you are running or not.

Sometimes bad runs happen to good people. Hope you feel better.

Crap! Its a good thing you weren’t running outside and 2 miles from home, that could have been…uncomfortable.
Thankfully the stomach flu seems to go as quickly as it comes on, I hope you’re feeling better soon, stay hydrated!!
