Weigh in: A loss is a loss

garlic naanWell I weighed in at 99.7 today. This is .1 kg down from last week. A loss is a loss I guess.

To tell the truth I’m not surprised as I had a bit too much food this weekend.

Saturday I had some friends around and we got a selection of Indian curries and some garlic naan bread for dinner. They were very nice but I ate more than I normally would for dinner. I also polished off the chocolate bar that Marshmallow gave me as a prize…sigh I’m weak.

Then Sunday evening I had a late dinner as I went to a baptism and celebratory dinner afterwards. I ate too much then as well but at least it was healthy food that I ate too much of.green beans

I pigged out on green beans with black bean sauce. Who would a thunk it? A few years ago I wouldn’t have touched green beans with a barge pole. Now I’m eating too many of them. Boy my life and habits have changed somewhat.

I’m going to have to learn better portion control in social situations. I’ve got a few weekends in a row coming up where I will be away from my normal routines so I will have to be careful. Social gatherings are nice but always problematic for us social eaters!

One of the reasons I have my weigh in day as Monday is that it is supposed to help me avoid overindulging over the weekend as I have the thought of reporting my weight on Monday morning in the back of my head. This strategy doesn’t always work!

I take no responsibility for the chocolate – you told me you were going to savour it bite by bite! (that being said, I’m actually IMPRESSED that you polished off a whole block of 72% Dark Ghana Cacao Whittakers, I normally can’t eat 60%+ chocolate quickly O_O)

I used to have my weekly reporting in day as Wednesday, since it was as far away from the weekend as you could get. Then I did some calculations across a few weeks and found that Friday was the day that was closest to the average, and that Wednesday was the furthest away from the standard deviation about the average (OH GAWD, STATISTIMICAL STUFF)

    Enjoy the loss. It happened.

And savour it I did. Bite by bite until it was gone!

Mmm… those beans looks delicious! My latest obsession: grilled asparagus. I hated the stuff growing up, and now I can’t get enough! As a matter of fact… my husband is outside on the grill right now! :)

Way to go on the loss!

Yes a loss is a loss. Take it and run. . . literally.

Amy — we just grilled asparagus for the first time ever yesterday — omg, they were outrageous!

Portion control is *still* a problem for me too… especially in social situations. Like you, I’m eating better stuff, just too much of it. Baby steps, right?

Amy and Jeff: I’m right there with ya on asparagus. I never had it growing up, and now I can’t get enough. Its out of season here so its hard to come by (expensive), but oh so good. Baby zucchini squash are also a newer favorite.

In case you’re interested I wrote up my recipe for grilled vegetables – in this case, it was green beans and bell peppers, but it is identical for asparagus. Here’s the link:

Andrew: I am sure you were a little less than ecstatic over your slower loss, but I have to tell ya every time I come to this site and see your traineo numbers I am awe-inspired – you’re doing it!

Hmmmm those beans do look tasty! Whenever I have Chinese to eat I always make sure I get a dish just of Chinese broccoli and oyster sauce – same sort of craving satisfier!
WD on the loss considering a tricky week!

Those dark chocolates, I can’t even eat a small piece in one go. I really don’t know how you can polish it off in 2 days!! (This is what happens when you don’t let me hide it! :P )

You’re definitely eating more things than I first met you, eh! (well other than meat.. :p)
