Weigh in

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed and see some of my favourite posts! Thanks for visiting!

Whoo…today I weighed in at 99.7 kgs which is 2kgs heavier than I was on Friday morning.  Damn these weekends away where I indulge in snacks that cause my glycogen and water reserves to dramatically increase!  I’m not too worried as I was pretty good overall and I know there is no way I can gain 4.4 pounds of fat in two days.

I had a very good weekend away.  It was good to catch up with some old friends and great to see my daughter and their kids having a ball.

I also kept up with my running.  I did two runs (on Friday and Sunday) which I’ll post about once I find my camera.

I also picked up a nasty head cold.  I think it was due to being confined in the car with my daughter who has a cold (picked up from daycare) for quite a long time.  Oh well, such is life.  It means I’m at home in bed today.

  1. I hear you about those crazy weight swings! A slice of pie on Friday night registered as a 2lb gain on Saturday morning…used to be I would have completely freaked out, but I’ve gradually come to improve my understanding of how the body reacts to certain nutrient (or lack thereof, haha) stimuli, so I don’t worry too much (try not to, at least… ;)

Hope you get to feeling better soon! Head colds are the worst :/

Thanks Moon. I try not to worry about it as much but yeah…I know what you mean.

  2. Andrew — you might want to check out the Google 15 weight tracker: http://google.blognewschannel.com/archives/2006/11/18/the-google-15-weight-gainloss-tracker/

Gives you a 15 day moving average that softens all of the day-to-day ups and down.

Glad to hear you had a great weekend. Getting some runs in is a bonus, too!

Thanks Jeff. I’ve had a look at Google 15 before but actually use a few other things.

I’ll do a post on them later this week. ;)

  4. Glad to hear you’re not letting the “artificial” gain get you down. I’ve often thought about the physical weight of what I’m eating…sometimes those swings feel like some kind of lunar gravitational disruption is messing with me :)

    Get better soon!

  5. Don’t forget that all that running is building muscle, Andrew… and muscle naturally weighs more than fat. Eventually, your weight is going to taper off and you’ll have to start measuring your success in terms of muscle mass and bmi.

That said, I’m glad to see that you’re maintaining your great attitude.
    Keep the faith!

  6. Yeah, thats the right attitude - take the long-term veiw - don’t worry about the day-day or week-week fluctuations.

You just make yourself nuts. One thing I’ve learnt is that this is a lifestyle change so long term is the way to think.
