A good sort out

If you're new here, you may want to get my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! I couldn't do this without the help of my commenters!

Today I spent a few hours going through all my clothes and discarding those that would no longer fit. It was quite a fun experience truth be told.

I have a box that I have called my skinny clothes box in which I’ve put all the clothes that I outgrew as I gained weight. Over the last year or so I’ve been dipping into that box and reclaiming clothes that haven’t seen the light of day in many a year. Today I renamed that box my fat clothes box as there is nothing in there that I cannot fit into. Well, let me clarify, I can put them on but they are mostly way too big for me to wear.

The local city mission is having a collection of clothes for the needy so I have filled two big bags with stuff for them but I have saved some of my bigger clothes so that I can always remember how far I’ve come and how I’m not going back there! The picture on the left was a lot of fun to take truth be told. I actually always enjoy taking photos that demonstrate progress. I’m going to do another butter shot soon.

I’ve definitely made some signicant progress!

  13. Great visual to really see what you’ve actually accomplished. You could almost do the ’stand in one leg of old pants’ photo!!!

AndrewENo Gravatar reply on May 18th, 2008 3:54 pm:

Heh…I could and did…just it was a bit blurry when I uploaded it.

  14. Well done! I’m pleased that I didn’t make you donate all those clothes in that “skinny box” when we moved. Then we would have to spend even more money on your clothes…

  16. Hi,

That is amazing! I know the mission will be really happy about the the clothes. I used to work at a clothing bank, and the bigger sizes were especially scarce.

  19. Andrew, that is awesome! I bet you have all new clothes, I know that I do. It’s been a lot of fun getting a new look, both in body and in fashion. Congrats on your 12.5 km run as well. How majorly cool! Blessings - William

  20. Thanks William. It’s great to see so many people doing well.

  21. Looks like we all had the same reaction. WOW!

  22. Congrats! You’ve done a fantastic job! You should be so very proud of yourself!

You said something there that many people should pick up on. Concentrate on getting healthy, not necessarily the numbers. We all like to see that number go down. But, sometimes when its not happeningt, its still an accomplishment to know we’re doing everything right by trying to get healthy. And, the scale will eventually cooperate.

  24. Getting rid of those big clothes is liberating isn’t it?

I also found myself shocked as I held up some of the bigger items when I did that a few weeks back - I did not realize how BIG I was…

AndrewENo Gravatar reply on May 23rd, 2008 7:46 am:

Yeah…I never really felt THAT big…it’s seems really weird looking at photos of the past.
