My fastest 10K yet

If you're new here, you may want to get my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! I couldn't do this without the help of my commenters!

I went for a nice gentle run this morning before work.  Weather conditions were perfect, overcast but not humid or cold.  There was a light breeze that I quite appreciated after a few minutes of running.  I don’t know what happened but I was just in a zone this morning.  I just plodded along without worrying too much about anything.

And what do you know, I did my fastest 10K ever.  57:46!  And that was without really trying to go quicker than normal.  I’m quite pleased by that.

I went on and did a bit more and did a total of 11.45 km in 1:06:34 at an overall pace of 5:46 per km.  And just to annoy the ladies I’ll add that I burnt 1267 calories doing that according to my HRM. :)

That is to annoy me, who has been counting calories, thanks to him.
And the last time I tried walking/running on the treadmill for 20 mins, I only burnt 150 calories!

    Cheeky!

  3. Mate!! That is sensational. I’ve got a 12km fun run in August and am planning for 90 mins. We’ll see how we go.

I’m in Melbourne at the moment so you should be able to see me (waves!). I’ll try and do 10km in an hour on the treadmill tonight, just to see how strenuous it was for you.

I’m in Melbourne for the weekend so will be doing a bit of running around Albert Park etc.

You are getting a head in leaps and bounds (pardon the pun).

Oh, and I know what you mean by the calories and the ladies. Yeah, right on! :)

The run sounds great! I will have to look into a HRM for sure..

Be glad it’s not humid. It’s going to be in the 90’s all weekend. My co-worker and I are switching to morning runs next week!

  9. Great job!!

I love my HRM. I burned 731 calories on my last walk/jog/dance (38 minutes long) so I’m not too jealous, just a little.

Don’t you just love being outside and doing something that totally takes the mind of other stuff and lets you relax mentally?

    Have a great weekend!
