Even the committed crack

If you're new here, you may want to get my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! I couldn't do this without the help of my commenters!

My daughter has been sick this week (with the dreaded chuckitis) and this has left my wife and myself feeling rather drained. I think it’s more emotional than physical but either way we both feel down and out. I don’t know how my darling wife is still functioning as she’s been up and down like a yo-yo in the night seeing to little Emma.

Anyway, back to the point of this post. This morning I felt like crap. Still do actually. I went to the gym to do my pushups and get in a run.

The pushups went reasonably well but I did not manage to complete the final max set so I’ll be doing day 03 of week 03 again. I did 27,22,22,20 and 20 (needed min 27). It’s still a lot of pushups completed (111) so I’m satisfied.

I should have gone and run outside but I was in the gym already so I hopped on the treadmill. After 30 minutes I had done 5.5 km and just didn’t feel like doing anymore so I stopped the run. Technically I’d done enough for the day but I had previously hoped I would do a bit more.

After my shower and stuff I headed into the office. Along the way I went to the student cafeteria (I work at a university) and loaded up with throat lozenges, 2 giant cookies and a custard pie (all for medicinal purposes!).  I went to the cashier to pay, then took them all back and put them on the shelves again.  Bravo! I hear you cheer.  But you cheer too soon.  I was not strongwilled.  I’d forgotten my wallet in the car.

Now I sit in the office longing for custard pies.  But fortunately I’m too lazy to walk over to the cafe again. :)

  2. Oh Andrew! I can so relate. Our 3 kiddos have been sharing the same nasty stomach virus for a week now. Loads of laundry, no sleep and definitely messed up workouts. Hope Emma feels better soon and you too!

WAY TO GO on those push-ups though!!

  3. My daughter Kate works part-time in the local supermarket. She’s just changed from Deli to Bakery, and now brings home Custard Tarts, Choc-Chip Cookies, Donuts - etc.

Very hard to be good all the time!

  5. It’s funny but I haven’t even bothered to add up how many pushups I am doing in a single session. For some reason I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you are right - that’s a lot of pushups even if they aren’t being done all at once!

  6. I wouldn’t say you’re cracking. Sometimes life just gets in the way.

  10. Sorry Emma isn’t feeling well!

I could possibly buy ONE giant medicinal cookie, but no way are TWO cookies an appropriate dosage :)

Great job on the pushups! (And thanks to Kim for the joke.*G*)

  11. Talk about cravings…trying being the ” pizza dude”…hehe anyway wanted to let you know I was able to finish the pushups and max out…I i figured out why I was not able to…I did not wait long enough between sets so I got burned out.

And I finally ran on the road tonight….AWESOME…felt really good. Hope you feel better and I will think of you as I try to get my 3 year old daughter to bed………
