I would say that it is good analogy not only to fitness. Any kind of improvement or just learning new things is such journey through valleys and peaks.

When You are on peak it is great, but going down in valley can be depressing, especially when You remember how well it was going yesterday.

But if You have this analogy in head, it is easier to overcome any doubts and get to another (higher!) peak :)

Hey this is an encouraging post, when we are on a peak we can look back and see all the other great accomplishments that we have gone through to get to this place, and also see that the valley's ahead eventually peak again.

Great stuff!

Take care,
Andrew

I love GFS, but I'm behind on reading. I'll make it a point to check out this post because I like the peaks and valleys metaphor.

Congrats on getting noticed by the Heart Foundation folks. They know a great story when they see it! :)

Great post! And the point of valleys and peaks is that they define each other. Very good point. This helps to put things into perspective quite nicely. Thanks for pointing us to it Andrew. I'm aiming for a peak this week. :)

Good post and good stuff with the heart racing deal.

Last year a good friend of mine did something similar for the Asthma foundation and was profiled on their website. Pretty cool alright.

You are right about the Auckland event selling out - now watch out for people hawking tickets on trademe. Amazing...

How true the peaks and valleys analogy is. I often tell my troops life, fitness, combat is like a roller coaster. Seems to equate to the "rush" of things a little better - in my opinion.

Thanks for the kudos on the entry. I wrote it and then realized it was too "running" for my family blog so Mac was kind enough to put it up on his site. The whole thing inspired me to start a new blog so I have place to talk about running more - mostly race reports but some training stuff, too, I suppose.

Keep up the good work!
