The early bird gets the worm

If you're new here, you may want to get my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! I couldn't do this without the help of my commenters!

I had to get up at 4 am today to drop off my brother in law at the airport.  It was rather cold!  I got back home around about 5:30ish and had a bite to eat.  I briefly considered going back to bed but decided a long run would be a better use of my time.

The weather played along today.  It was brilliant! There were a lot of runners out and about enjoying the conditions.  I suspect a lot of the people I saw out running were training for the Auckland marathon as well.  8 weeks to go.

I did a similar route to the long run I did two weeks ago but incorporated the final leg of my half marathon course as well.

It was a relatively hilly run but that’s Auckland for you.

I did 23 km in 2:12:53 which is my longest run yet.  I had a nice peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich to celebrate. :)

  2. Good on you for not going back to bed! I don’t know how you did it but I want some of that motivation! I’ve just had a look at ‘SportsTracks’ as well after seeing the name at the bottom of the graph. It looks great, hopefully I can give it a try this week.

  4. Awesome determination on defending yourself from the early morning enemy, Soft Pillow. I’ll face a similar battle tomorrow when I try to go out for a long run.

I’ve always liked your use of maps on your blog.

23 Km’s is great! Keep up the incredible work.

  8. Wow, excellent job. It would have been so easy to just crawl back into bed (even if only a short time before baby arose), but you got out and achieved a GREAT distance run. 23k is really something!

Thanks - and me too - I love the elevation chart!

  11. Nice run — interesting that your beginning and ending elevation had a 100 ft variance. Did you start and stop at the same spot? Looks like you did.

Not quite. There is a very short steep downhill just outside my house. It’s great to start on but not so great to finish on. ;)
