Great attitude, Andrew! It's a sign of true progress that a pound gain isn't the end of the world. (I know of what you speak. :))

Keep up the great work!

Life does have a habit of getting in the way of a successful weight loss program.

It's great to hear that you can handle the ups and downs without stressing out.

On another note, like your weigh-ins help with your being accountable to yourself, I blogged today on the effectiveness of a Photo Diet for helping people avoid unconscious and/or emotional eating. It helps them be accountable before they blow their diet, rather than heaping guilt upon themselves after the fact.

If anyone is interested (I am, but I am a fitness geek), they can find the post by using the link that Andrew so generously provides.

It's funny how you can knock out 23 km one day and gain a lb for the week. Doesn't make sense does it?
I am definitely jealous about your long runs. Since I have never trained for a marathon - I just don't know..
Maybe next year?
Great run!

Your head is in the right place, Andrew. Don't let it derail you.

There seems to be a relationship between weight loss and event training. Many places suggest that you not expect to lose weight when training for an event as your body needs the added fuel to be able to handle the increased activity. Much to my disappointment, I found this to be true, particularly when marathon training. With that said, it seems reasonalbe that you should be able to generate at least a small calorie deficit when you're running a lot.

Just one more thing to try to figure out.

These are the moments where you make the mental list of all the good things happening right now, and weigh that against being up one pound. You are doing great so keep up the positive attitude!

Hi Andrew. Well done on the weight loss so far, I'm sure you feel great, especially the wonderful feeling of running-fitness! Keep it up and don't get disheartened when you pick up a bit....just keep on keeping on!
My weight goes up so fast when I DON'T run/walk, so I know that is the secret, more so even than what I eat!
Loads of love

Hey Andrew, yes I wouldn't worry about it too much and it sounds like your head is in the right place and you are still focused. Keep at it. Do you think that your weight increase might be at all because of increased muscle growth or it's just the work functions and lack of sleep?
