The Dreaded Lurgy*

I’ve been rather sick.  On Monday it was still just a headcold so I was ok to go for my run.  However, Tuesday it progressed down to my chest and I’ve been coughing up green stuff ever since.  I took the day off work yesterday and tried to stay in bed most of the day hoping to recover.

I’m still coughing up green stuff today but am going in to work and will just take it easy.  Needless to say I haven’t been running since Monday and I’m itching to get out there.  But I think it’s better for the green stuff to dissipate first.

If I’m not careful I could be out of action for a few weeks rather than a few days.  It’s happened to me before with chest infections.  I start off with a cold and then it turns into bronchitis very quickly.

Patience is a virtue but I long to run.

Take care of yourself. That is what running is all about, right???

I have finised week 2 of the C25K and will get week 3 started tomorrow. This week and the coming few weeks will be a challenge as I am going to be out of town off an on until October 22. I will need to be disciplined in finding good places to run and not come up with excuses.

Tomorrow I have a second interview with a GREAT company in Washington DC. I am going to take my running clothes with me and go running in the beautiful Rock Creek park. Will be a great run!!!

I’m glad to hear that you are doing well with C25K. I’m such a big advocate for that.

Feel better soon! It stinks to not be able to run when that is what you really want to do. But, you need to rest up and take it easy.

I know exactly what You are talking about. Last few days I’m on the edge between sick and healthy – one day better other worse, so I was running not everyday.

On our half we have just started Autumn, and we had bad weather recently in Warsaw – rain, cold (5 Celsius degrees), windy – not good weather to run, especially if You are coughing…

But I think I’m over worst time – both in terms of cough and weather – I feel better and finally we have some sun and whooping 15 degrees ;)

Good luck with that chest cold. It never comes at a convenient time, does it? When I get hit with something like this invariably its at the beginning of a long weekend, vacation, or when I am enjoying exercising quite a bit. A couple of days of rest with lots of sleep is always the smart move. All the best!

Oh dear, it must be going around. And I could have written this entry word for word, including the part about getting a cold that easily turns to bronchitis! I haven’t been feeling well all week. Yesterday I slept through my running time and work up with a burning feeling in my chest. Today I got up, coughed up something nasty and did a Billy Blanks dvd instead of going for my run. The not running business is killing me as my marathon is 31 days away and I don’t want to taper too early, but what’s a girl to do?
