A run in the spring sun

I went for a run in the Auckland Domain this morning. This may seem a bit odd given my post yesterday but the sun was shining and I felt a bit of exercise would do me some good so I thought why not?

You can really tell that spring has arrived here in Auckland.  I passed these Cherry trees in full blossom on my way up to the Domain.

I did 4 laps of the Sri Chinmoy peace mile. This is a measured mile running loop in the Domain itself.  This worked out to be about 6.2 km.  Technically it should have been 6.4 so I suspect the mile is slightly shorter than it should be.

I took it nice and easy as I just wanted to get out in the sun more than anything.  I was very aware that if I pushed it and made myself more ill then my darling wife would kill me.   Having said that it was a great run.  The birds were singing, the sun was shining, there were a lot of folks out running and it felt good to be part of the running community as it were.  It’s amazing how you always feel better after a run no matter how bad you feel beforehand.

I’m looking forward to getting out again on Sunday.

I used to meditate at the Sri Chinmoy center in Washington, DC. Good memories :-)

On my third day of chest crud/no running. I am super duper jealous of those views as I look out my office window at the monsoon we have going on. Lucky, lucky you.

I wish my one mile track looked like your one mile loop! The grey soft dirt on Stewart Field sticks to the shoes until you get home. I need to move to a new city, as I am actually getting bored with Fort Benning. Are there any US Soldier advisers stationed down there?

Very beautiful! Here, we’re just starting into autumn; facing several days of rain at the moment.

Hey, what’s happening on the pushup front? Last reference I can find from you is Aug. 26. Have you continued? I just got back in, tested out at 46!

This is soooo weird. You are having a beautiful spring at this time of the year and I am encountering fall season (the leaves hasn’t changed yet – too early). I have to think of the opposite of the weather you are having down there.

Yep. I came close to doing one of the 10Ks this year but it was too close to a Run Auckland race.

Next year I might do the half.

I love it when the cherry trees come out in blossom, it looks superb. Such a pleasant vista when running as well, you cant beat springtime, makes you feel alive.
