A run with the itch
If you're new here, you may want to get my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! I couldn't do this without the help of my commenters!
I’ve got a nasty case of sweat rash at the moment (miliaria). I’m not sure how or why I have it but I know that I do and it’s been driving me nuts as it itches like mad. My doctor said it’s one of the hazards of sweating a lot while exercising in humid conditions. The only problem is that I don’t recall it being humid yet! Oh well, there’s not much I can do except suffer through it. Recommended treatment is apparently to not sweat and I’m afraid that’s not really an option as I need my exercise!
Anyway I went for an itchy 5K run today on the treadmill as it’s rather windy and rainy out at the moment.
I’ve got an 11K race coming up on Sunday. It’s been a while since my last race which was a 10K which I did in 53:14. However the course was only about 9.2K in reality if I remember correctly. I think I should be able to comfortably beat an hour but I have no real idea about what time I should aim for. I think I’m just going to run and see what happens. One thing I always find enjoyable about a real race is that I’ve always found I can run faster and further in a race. It’s also nice to run with other people.

Good luck with the race!
Sweat rash doesn’t sound much fun. (know what its like - I’m prone to get discoid eczema when its dry).

That itch doesn’t sound too flash, hope it comes right before your upcoming races. Don’t worry about climbing the bridge. With all the running you’ve been doing you must have been getting in a few hills. Heres a link to a good hill run i use to do with my workmates near where you live.

I didn’t know that SLIM exercise people would get it !!!
I know that I get it at my lardy size with my boobs crashing onto my chest, but once your body is slim enough that folds of flesh don’t unecessarily chafe against each other I didn’t think people would get it.
I was surprised to read this, but you learn something every day, as they say.

Never heard of that. When I first read it, I thought you were saying you had milaria. Now that’s very different. Glad you don’t have that!

I too have gone through this with poison ivy. Running (or walking) against other people always causes one to run or walk just a little better and faster. Wishing you the best on your upcoming race.

Good luck in the 11 km next Sunday. I have run at Waitakere twice before in the half marathon, and it’s a great course and a well-run event. Next Sunday I will also be doing the 11 km, as I haven’t been doing much long distance running of late. Run hard and enjoy the day.

You’ve gotta love those pics they put up on the website you linked to. Hot stuff!
Having said that I get this every summer, just from walking in dresses. It’s nasty. And painful! Such is life, however, when one doesn’t have stick thin legs. Hope it gets better, but in the meantime I totally recommend baby rash cream it works a treat!

Good luck in your race. That itch sounds a bit like a problem I had in past summers with shorts caused chafing. The longer shorts in vogue these days have made that less of an issue. Anyway, hope you have a blast.

Yeah…apparently it’s a reaction to one of my new running shirts. I won’t be wearing that one again!
