A humid run and a puddle

I dropped my wife off at work this morning and then headed out for my run.

I went out towards the city and decided I would run around the harbour area.  The Luis Vuitton Pacific series is on and I was hoping to see some superyachts.

I took the photo on the left near the Hilton Hotel and there were quite a few pretty boats about.  The rich and famous are in town!

I did 12.5 k and boy was it humid!  100% again apparently.  I normally hang my running stuff up in a cupboard that I have in my office so that the aircon can dry it out and normally that works like a charm.  Today I headed out for a meeting and when I came back there was a huge puddle under my clothes! It just goes to show that it is so humid that my sweat doesn’t evaporate even with my fancy technical gear.

100%? Doesn’t that inhibit your breathing while running? (I’m winded just thinking about it.)

I get so jealous of your running territory! Mine isn’t nearly this gorgeous. Oh so lucky you are Andrew!

Nice run! Looking at the route looks like you did the climb up Curran Street. How was that? Auckland has a suprising elevation change from the waterfront to Karangahape Ridge. You end up getting a hill in there somewhere or other :)

I am still jealous as well with the beauty of your run. Like I said before I’d run all that and more if I had that type of view every time. The one good thing about living in Las Vegas, the desert, is that we don’t have to worry about the humidity factor. Just the heat of the summer is the worse part of it all. So i still would take the beauty over the low humidity. great run though for you..

I too am envious of the views you run by every day. The whole marina feel must put a smile on your face every time. 100% humidity is tough though…

We’re trying to navigate the “puddles” from the snowmelt in Central Iowa, but now it sounds like we’re going to get slammed with more snow later this week!

The other problem with technical gear (at least some of mine) is that it’s great for growing bacteria. If I go out for a long run, that stuff definitely needs to be washed…
