Spring has arrived
It is the 1st day of Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere and the weather today was beautiful. I ran into work today and it was a crisp day with blue skies. Perfect running weather. I forgot my cellphone at home so unfortunately I have no pictures of my run. It’s always the case that when you forget the camera you see plenty of photo worthy sights! I saw some folks putting these huge articficial flowers up on the beach – don’t ask me why – and it would have been a great photo. Never mind!
I did 223km in August which is not bad at all and it looks like September will be the month I do my record mileage.
I completed my rest week last week and this week the mileage steps up a bit. I think I’m supposed to do about 44 miles this week. My long run this week will be 17 miles which is a rather long way just quietly.
I hit a small milestone on Sunday when I cracked 2500 km since I first started running last year. The last month or so I’ve felt really good about my running. I haven’t been running fast at all but I have been enjoying most of my runs. Getting out of the door has been easy even if the runs themselves haven’t always been that great. I’m really looking forward to doing the marathon which is pleasing as I was a bit worried that I’d lose my motivation after finishing my first one.
I’m halfway through my training program now so 9 more weeks to go.

You’ve got to wonder what in the heck they were doing with those fake flowers…
I enjoy running the most when I don’t set my stopwatch. Just get out and enjoy the views.

Nothing like the countdown to the marathon. This is when the training really matters so keep it up and good luck.

Congratulations!
I envy guys like you who can find time to work-out. How I wish I can do the same… I’m not exactly in a perfect shape, but I’m not fat. I just want to be healthy.

Andrew I’m very jealous, Vacation is over and the cold weather is on the way up here, and you have your whole summer ahead of you
2500 km, great milestone. I wish I were more consistent with tracking my distances, I think I cracked 500 in 2009 not bad being injured for 3 months.

Well done 2500km is a great milestone, and you’ve got there pretty quickly too! I just added mine up, and have over 5400km since I started in June 2005, so I think your rate is quicker.

I also become interested in running after I joined my first race last July. I never stopped since then. Together with running, I signed up for EFT training which turned out to be a good habit as well.
