Ten things I love

The lovely Erin from Erin takes control tagged me to list out ten things that make me happy. I don’t normally bother with these things but I think happiness is important so I thought I would have a go. It’s things not people so I won’t list my lovely wife and daughter although they are #1!

1.  My iPod Touch.

I love this device.  I carry it almost everywhere I go.  It carries my books, my music, my podcasts, my twitter and all sorts of other apps. Love it, love it, love it.

2.  My Garmin Forerunner 305

I love knowing how far, how fast, how high, and how hard I’ve worked out.  This GPS watch gives me all that and more.

3.  My Sennheiser MX75 running headphones

These headphones are brilliant.  Water resistant, fit great and sound brilliant while letting in ambient sound so that mack truck doesn’t run me over!

4.  My iPod Shuffle

My brother got this for me for Christmas and I love it for those days that it is a bit wet and I don’t want to risk getting my iPod Touch wet.

5.  My internet connection

I love being connected and having access to so many great things/people/ideas. I especially love that my internet connection gives me access to you folks. The ever supportive blogging community. I’ve received so much support, advice and encouragement – it’s truely a blessing.

6.  My city

I love living in Auckland, New Zealand.  Consistently ranked in the top 5 places to live in the world and I can testify that it is great.

7.  Peanuts

I love peanuts and they love me. Enough said. :)

8.  Mowing the lawn.

I really like mowing the lawn for some reason.  It’s almost like therapy.

9.  Reading books

I read a lot.  Way too much according to some.  I normally go through at least 2-3 books a week and I can’t imagine not having access to a book.  My first paying job was in a bookshop but it didn’t pay enough for me to make a career of it.

10.  Running

Last but not least.  I love running which I think you’ve guessed by now.

Speaking of which I did a beautiful 10K this morning.  Conditions were great:

Auckland is definitely lovely.

Andrew, I am always jealous when I see the photos of where you get to run, I live in an awesome place out in the woods and I live on a lake but there is something about your pictures that gets me, perhaps its the 15 degree weather, snow and winds that I get this time of the year helping that eh? :)

What a great list! We were just talking about living in New Zealand at dinner tonight – no immediate plans, but we can dream. :-)

I would love to go to New Zealand…when the kiddos are older. I sometimes wonder what I used to do before the Internet…before facebook, before blogging…oh yeah,. I slept and cleaned.

Thanks for stopping by my place today.

I really enjoy reading myself – I don’t think you can possibly read too much. I’ve worked at 2 different libraries for a total of about 3 years. While I loved the work and being around books, I found much the same as you, that it just didn’t pay enough to make a career out of it (unless I went to school to become a librarian, which I really had no interest in).

I can relate to a few of those things, reading and internet would be high up there! The Garmin I’m saving for when I reach WW goal weight, hopefully not too far away.

Your scenery looks much better than mine … maybe I should start running along the beach rather than suburbia roads ;)

Agree with the iPod touch. I take it with me on runs too, but I am also wanting to buy an iPod shuffle for the very same reasons.

I was thinking of buying the Garmin, and if you’ve put it at No. 2 in your list, I guess it’s a worthwhile investment.

Book fiend here, as well. Fortunately, I obtained a library card before I had to take a second mortgage to feed my habit. :)

Thanks for sharing your favorite things. I could have guessed a few of them, but the lawn mowing caught me completely by surprise. Will file for use if you ever come to the states in summer. :)

Love your list! I would love to get ahold of a Garmin at some point! Thanks for always posting beautiful photos from your runs – it’s like taking a vacation in my eyes. Too bad it has to end, and I look out my window and see huge snow piles. Only 5 months till summer here! :-)

My list would look earily similar (though I think I’d list my wife in there somewhere, just in case)…

And the Garmin would definitely make it, even if it did totally screw up my run yesterday! Argh!!!

    Keep up the good work.

I love mowing the grass too. Sure beats shoveling the snow.

I love these things because we get to learn a little bit more about each other, so I’m glad you participated! New Zealand looks amazing…definitely on my list of places to see someday. I would also love to have a garmin someday. Those things look awesome.

We may be JAFAs, but hey, I’ll be one if I get to live here :)

Peanuts are great! Do you have a favourite coating, or is roasted salted your thing? My fav is dry roasted.

Love the internet too! The internet is freaking amazing.

For some reason I had it in my head that you were from Australia, not New Zealand. I don’t have any idea where I got that from. :-)

I always liked mowing the lawn too.

And I very much would like to spend a year or two in New Zealand. Know of any good sites for Americans looking for work? :)

  19. SteveNo Gravatar on January 16th, 2010 7:53 am

I really liked mowing the lawn too (back when I had one), even with only the pushmower. My parents have 6 acres and it was several hours to just think or zone out. I’d love to have an ipod touch (or an iphone), and I think I’d like to have one of those watches, too.
