A long run with heavy legs

My long run this morning was rather tiring.  I found that I had very heavy legs.  I think it is because it way my third day of running in a row.  Normally I have Thursdays as a rest day but on Wednesday life got in the way and I didn’t manage to squeeze my run in so I ran it on Thursday instead.  I then ran my normal Friday run and my long run this morning.  I think the cumulative miles added up and the second half of my run got loooong today.

I also went on a new route that is a bit hillier than normal.  I don’t think I would have noticed normally but on tired legs I noticed!

Here’s my route map:

My Activities 6-03-2010

I ran past a cafe where some very delicious bacon and egg smells were coming out and my vegetarian principles were sorely tested!

I also saw some weightwatchers graffiti which I found quite funny:

I’ve seen this all over town on our sidewalks.  Damn kids today! :)

77.5 km for the week which is my longest yet I think.  48.1 miles for my metrically challenged friends.

  1. I didn’t know you were a vegetarian. I can only imagine that bacon smells even better if you haven’t had it in a while. :)

  3. Thank you for the metric conversion. I have kilograms down, but I’m still working on committing km to miles. :)

    Awesome week!

  4. Wow, that’s quite some distance! *confetti* I’m a vegetarian too, and very occasionally I get that “oooh, that smells good” thing too. Never acted on it though :)

  5. Thanks for the conversion, although I just count everything in 5Ks, and get it about right! Great run, and you deserve an extra little sumpin’ sumpin’ for the miles and bypassing the bacon!

  14. I don’t do metrics so thx for that conversion too! I feel for you. Sometimes I have to jog Saturday rather than Sunday due to “life” and my leggies yell at me! They are just not ready & want that extra rest day.

    I just love that graffiti!

  15. You’re absolutely insane for running that distance in a week! Have you thought about running the length or width of the North Island or something?

Hey are you doing Round the Bays this year? Also, what do you recommend for nutrition pre-post race? Or if you know of any websites that help with that. Oh, and how many days do you rest before you race?

I am and I hope to see you there! Just eat normally I reckon. Round the Bays is not about speed it’s about socializing. There are too many people to race it.

I reckon rest about 2 or three days. I’m probably not going to bother myself as I’m not planning on going fast.

Same! I thought about wearing a white t-shirt with @gatekepa drawn in vivid :D So look out for that! I know I definitely won’t be passing you!

I know it’s not about going fast, I just want to know I can finish it, haha. Cheers for the help.
