New RoadID and a run in the dark

I ordered a new RoadID yesterday as my phone numbers have changed since I got my last one.  The days are getting shorter now here in NZ and I’m doing more and more running in the dark so I figured it was time to start being safe rather than sorry.

I got the WristID Sport:

This sporty little guy is extremely durable and comfortable…never mind the fact that it might save your life someday. Wear it running, cycling, swimming or on any of your adventures. In fact, make a lifestyle statement and wear it all the time. The Wrist ID Sport is the perfect piece of gear for every athlete. Like all our IDs, it can be laser engraved with your emergency contact information. It comes standard with two 3M reflective stripes to enhance your visibility when training in the dark.

The RoadID folks sent me a discount coupon that I can share with my readers.  The coupon number is: ThanksAndrew627713

This coupon code is good for $1 off any Road ID order.

In other news I did a great 12.2 km run this morning (in the dark) before work.  The seasons are definitely starting to turn now and we’re well into Autumn (Fall for you Americans!).  I’m starting to think that soon you guys are going to make me pay for all those photos of lovely sunny days that I posted!  Having said that, conditions were absolutely perfect for running this morning.  A gentle zephyr of a breeze and not too humid.

It was nice and warm for this mornings run, but it is depressing running in the dark. Nothing like watching the sun rise and light up Rangitoto.
The roadID sounds like a great idea.

Mine just expired. I have the one for the ankle but I think I want to renew with a wristband like you. Much more stylish – I can wear it to the club. :)

I like the “Never Give Up” slogan, but wouldn’t it have been better to have got one with your own name and address ? :-)

I’m glad the days are getting longer here in the UK. More daylight for road running, and the winter was pretty depressing!

Always good to be safe. It’s something that’s easily forgotten.

Luckily, spring is just around the corner here. Between that and daylight savings time, we’ll have lots of extra daylight in the evenings.

Congrats on that run! We just had our spring time change & it is dark in the morning again.. for now. With time, it will lighten up again so for now, I start a bit later than I used to until it gets light in the morn again. For eve people, it is great because it stays lighter after work for them.

Thanks for sharing the coupon, Andrew. I’ve been meaning to get one of these as I don’t always remember to carry a copy of my driver’s license with me when on foot or bike. If I get squished, I’ll be just another Jane Doe. :)

I need to get one of those Road ID’s. I have a medical bracelet, but its not condusive for exercising. I wonder if below my emergency phone numbers I can have them put “insulin diabetic?”

Thanks for the discount – I’ll go check it out – and yes, I believe as soon as I have some pictures of me grilling out in 75 degree weather, I’ll send you some!

Glad you are feeling well enough to get your runs in again. :)

I really need to get that road ID as most of my runs are in the dark right now. It sure will be nice when the day light stays longer! :)

Hmmm, that is a good idea. Or I could just borrow the dog’s tag…that has emergency contacts as well.

Sorta off topic, but do you guys have access to Google Voice over there? If so, you should use a Google Voice phone number for things like this and you can then change where it points when your real world phone # changes.
