A long run cut short by the devil

I noticed a bit of tightness in my hip during my run to work on Friday but didn’t really think much on it.  However, during today’s scheduled 22km run I noticed it was very tight from about 5km into the run.  There was a turnoff point on my route at about the 6.5km mark so discretion was the better part of valour and I decided to cut the run short and run/walk the rest of the way home.  So a very slow 9km today but I really don’t want to pick up/aggravate an injury.

Funnily enough that brings my weekly mileage to 66.6km!  The devil is in the details eh!

Good call…I’m always trying to listen to my body to distinguish the good pain from bad pain.

Best to take it easy. Not worth pushing through and getting an injury.

I agree it’s better to rest it and avoid getting a long term injury! I guess sometimes our bodies are trying to tell us to slow down a little.

Sounds like you made a good choice in taking it slow and easy. No need to push it and injure yourself further.

I’m no runner, but I’ve always heard it’s best to stop when you’re hurtin. Interesting number! I woulda walked another tenth just to change it b/c I would be scared! hehe.
I hope your injury goes away quickly! :)

Good choice to cut it short. You couldn’t even have gone another 0.1 km, though?? :)

Ouch! Hope it remains an annoyance rather than an injury! (Also hope that weekly number doesn’t cause any problems. :) )

Better to be safe than sorry. I know I was sorry after trying to run through my last injury putting myself out of the running for a week. I think you’re making a smart decision.

You’ve been running long enough to know “bad pain” from “good pain” (like the day after a long run kind of soreness). Hope it works itself out!

Yikes! 66.6 km. Maybe you should be measuring in miles, at least for this week. :-)
