Weigh-in #22 2010: Feeling a bit blah

A pretty flat week except for Thursday (big family dinner) and Sunday (general overeating!).

2010 is still looking pretty good:

I’ve been feeling a bit blah about it all and I think it is because I’m not running as much as normal.  This tapering period is driving me nuts.  I’m trying not to overeat as every extra gram is a gram I have to carry for 26.2 miles on Sunday!

I’ve also been neglecting everyone’s blogs…much to my shame.  I’ll get my mojo back as soon as the marathon is over!

  3. Good luck for the weekend! Don’t worry about the extra grams- think of it as a useful fat store for endurance ;)

  8. Good luck for Sunday. Remember to eat quality foods this final week, high in carbs, and keep yourself well hydrated. If you’re going nuts about the low amount of running, do a faster, shorter run this week, say just slightly faster than goal race pace for about 3-5 km.

  12. When you hit a plateau you know it’s time to change things up. That’s the problem with marathons. Your body starts to get used to running and you burn less calories. Plus since you’re lighter it is easier to run. I would suggest trying interval training or adding more strength training. Another problem you’ll find is after the marathon you will obviously cut way back on your running which will again make it harder to continue any weight loss. Be sure after the marathon to replace your long distance running with shorter more intense cardio to see if that kick starts your metabolism again.
