A time for reflection
I ran past the spot where a cyclist was killed on Wednesday this morning. The police were there removing their police tape and the only indication that anything had happened was a few bundles of flowers on the footpath.
It made me reflect somewhat that our time here on Earth is pretty brief and we had best make the most of it!

A sobering experience, no doubt.
Thanks for the comment and the question on my last post. To answer your question, I count how many times one foot hits the ground for one minute and aim for 90 steps.
Aah…I was expecting a high tech solution for some reason!

Events like that make you stop and think. It’s sad that the she was out not bothering anyone. It sounds like that was a narrow stretch of road, too. Unfortunately, many of the roads are narrow in KY, so it keeps cyclists off the roads…

Not too easy to run by a place like that. Not something that will soon be forgotten I am sure.
I just wish drivers would pay more attention to their surroundings sometimes. Not that it looked like the driver of the truck had much he could have done in this case though.

That’s very sad.
Yes, I know how short life can be… losing parents younger than I expected to… I know others have lost them sooner but it is always sobering!

thats so sad, it amazes me when I see people running at night and all they have on is black. Reflectors arnt that costly.

Very sobering, indeed. 5 cyclists in a single week? Tragic. Thank you for sharing, Andrew.
i know the feeling as did alot of triathlons and had a few people i know killed by cars
makes you really appreciate life is precious.

Hi Andrew, so glad you have posted such a brief yet very powerful blog. That is actually what I call a personal revelation.
Stephen R. Covey has some really good insights about the principle “begin with the end in mind”. This will actually help you figure out for yourself the things that matter most in this life from the things which matter less.
Hi Andrew, very sobering and so sad.
I recruit a lot of people from overseas and it is tragic anytime something like this happens but so far from home. Her parents will be devastated and feeling very helpless!

Andrew,
That’s a sad encounter.
Life is inevitably short and we can’t say whose gonna past away and who’s not.
Just drive safely.

Indeed there’s a very thin line between life and death, but most of us don’t realize this until its too late.

Feeling healthy and feeling good about yourself is not a luxury – it’s an absolute necessity.
