The joy of early morning runs
I love running first thing in the morning. I find it just sets the day up right. I especially like runs where I am out and about as the sun comes up. This is the view from my run:
How can you not enjoy running when you have a view like this?
A wee hill run
Peter and I have started a good habit. Every second Friday we do a wee hill run. Our route takes us up through through the Auckland Domain, up the aptly named Mountain Rd and then we do 3 times up and down Mt Eden’s volcanic cone.
On our way back through the Domain we also do a quarter km sprint. Just because we can.
Time to get priorities right
The last few months have been crazy busy and I’ve been neglecting my blog somewhat. I find that when I do this that my motivation to focus on healthy living tends to diminish. This results in more eating and of the wrong stuff. I’m a good 3kgs heavier than I was when I ran the Taipei marathon last year and about 7kgs heavier than this time last year.
As such, I have decided that it is time to get my priorities right and refocus on eating healthy. The way to do this is by making good choices from moment to moment. I’ve been using the “I’ll start next week routine” for the last 6 months with predictable results. I’m going to make an effort to check in more here and on other blogs. I really value the shared sense of accountability.
Missed the Huntly Half
I had to miss the Huntly Half Marathon today as my wife has the flu and it would have been a bit rough for me to have left her alone with our 3 year old.
I need to find a replacement challenge I think!
