Weigh-in #22 2010: Feeling a bit blah

A pretty flat week except for Thursday (big family dinner) and Sunday (general overeating!).

2010 is still looking pretty good:

I’ve been feeling a bit blah about it all and I think it is because I’m not running as much as normal.  This tapering period is driving me nuts.  I’m trying not to overeat as every extra gram is a gram I have to carry for 26.2 miles on Sunday!

I’ve also been neglecting everyone’s blogs…much to my shame.  I’ll get my mojo back as soon as the marathon is over!

Weigh-in #21 2010: Mission accomplished.

Last week I set myself the goal of having an all green week and I’m pleased to report that I did it.

2010 is looking great:

However, I reached a more important milestone this week.  This is the first official weigh-in post where my Physics Diet (official) weight is under goal.  So I’m officially under my goal weight.  Boy that is great!

It’s been just under 8 years since I said enough is enough and started losing weight.  And to be honest it’s been quite the rollercoaster ride.  I’ve lost then regained many a time yet each time the loss was a little bit more and the regain a little bit less.
I only started using PhysicsDiet to track my weight in about 2008 but I’ve filled in a few gaps (with memorable occasions where I knew my weight):

Slow and steady wins the race I guess?

I think I’ll try and dig out some before photos and post them here. :)

Weigh-in #20 2010: So near!

Oh dear!  I’ve had my first gain of the year. :)   I can live with a .02 kg gain.  Although it is a bit of a wakeup call in many respects.  I’m still not handling weekends well.  I’ve been doing great during the week and then blowing it all over the weekend.  I’m going to set myself the goal of having another all green week.

The year itself is still looking ok:

My physics diet weight was actually under goal for the first time this week but the weekend ruined it.  I’m .01kg over goal weight on physics diet now.  So unless I totally blow it I should be there next week!

I’m sorry I’ve been so quiet but things have been busy and unfortunately I’ve not made enough time for blogging.

Weigh-in #19 2010: Steady as she goes

As you can see from the graph it’s a pretty flat trend line this week:

The year itself is starting to flatten out a bit too:

I will be starting to cut down my mileage somewhat over the next few weeks as I enter the taper period of my marathon and half marathon training.  This means I’ll have to really start watching what I eat as at the moment I can get away with a few excess calories due to the amount of running I’m doing.  I really don’t want to gain weight just before the marathon!  I did that last year unfortunately.

Weigh-in #18 2010: Busy busy busy

It was a really good week up until about Friday.  Work has been really busy this week and I had to start early and stay late every day from Thursday onwards – including the weekend.  As such, I was out of routine and didn’t get my runs in and, even worse, I subsisted on junk food mainly. But such is life sometimes.  I really needed to enter the latest weekend warrior challenge but it slipped me by I’m afraid.

Anyway, even after all that I’m down .32 kg this week.  My physics diet weight is 86.54kg (goal is 86.4kg) so I’m so close to officially being there.  My actual scale weight was as low as 84.9kg this past week which is the lowest I’ve seen since I passed it (going up!) as a teenager I guess.

The year itself is looking good:

April has been a record breaker for me in terms of my running.  I ran over 300 km (187 miles) in April which is the most I’ve ever run in a single month. I suspect I won’t be running as much in May as I’ll be tapering for the Christchurch Marathon for the latter half of it.  :)

Weigh-in #17 2010: Maintenance is cool

Down .25 kg this week. In reality I’m maintaining and it’s all good.

The year is coming along nicely:

Weigh-in #16 2010: Looking green

It looks like I’m sort of back on track.  I still had a weekend spike but I managed to keep it in the green zone so that’s good.

The chart for 2010 still looks quite pretty to me.  Especially as the trend line is still pointing down. :)

I did 73.7 km (45.8 miles) last week which was quite nice.  I had a great long run on Saturday morning where I did 28 km @ 6:10min/km pace which is my fastest long run in a long time.  I also practiced keeping the pace steady and am pleased to note that I did that very comfortably and could actually do the last 3 km at sub 4 hour marathon pace.

Weigh-in #15 2010: Weekend problems

I’m having weekend problems!

As I mentioned in my vlog, I was under goal on Saturday morning but by Saturday evening I’d eaten one too many helpings of the delicious foods my good friends brought over to my place for a potluck.  Just as well I’m running heaps!  Still, I did make a small loss overall.

I guess I could say the maintenance is going well in that if I didn’t get a weekend spike I’d still be losing weight.

Heh, even I don’t believe that one.

In other news, a glorious morning run today.  The chocolate mousse my friend made is sure great for powering morning runs, even two days later!  I did an easy 17km before work in 1:40:28 which is about 5:55/km pace.

My blogging buddy Michelle did a 100km run on the weekend!  She’s pretty inspiring I tell you.

Weigh-in #14 2010: The one with lots of Easter Eggs

Meet some of my friends:

P1040018

Well, it had to happen.  I’ve had a bad week eating wise that has resulted in a gain:

You know what?  It was worth it.  I ate about 7 small eggs and 3 small bunnies and they were damn good.  :) The huge difference between this year and previous years is that I staggered my eating over a few days rather than eating that much all at one go every day!   I’m back on the good food now and I’m happy with where I am.

The yearly graph is not as pretty as it has been but I’m very satisfied with the overall trend:

Of course, this wouldn’t be my blog if I didn’t report on my run.  I had a great run this morning.  A little later than normal and so it was quite warm but I still managed to get in a respectable 16.3km in 1:40:42 this morning.  I also happened to notice that I’ve actually run over 500 miles already this year which is not too shabby.

I’ve also decided that I’m going to do the Huntly Half Marathon in May and have sent an email enquiring how to change my half marathon entry to a full marathon entry for the Christchurch Marathon in June.

Weigh-in #13 2010: Almost there

Well, I actually hit goal yesterday morning. Scale weight that is, not on physics diet yet.

Of course, I then went out for a great family gathering and ate too much! Hence the red this morning! :) We actually went to a marine reserve and spent the day snorkelling and picnic-ing. A great time was had by all.  I’ve really learnt to appreciate family in my old age.

My year to date is still looking pretty good:

As I’ve been getting closer and closer to goal I’ve been reflecting upon my journey – as you do – and I’m working on a post about that. Something for you to look forward to. ;)

In other news, an easy 12km before work this morning.
